Core Team Provides Update on JSA-2022


ITANAGAR, July 4: A core team, including Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2022 (JSA-2022), Central Nodal Officer Dr Mahesh B Dale and his Technical Officer Dr SS Vittala, at a meeting here on Monday, provided an update on progress of JSA-2022 and discussed ways to ensure its effective implementation in the ICR district.

Dr Vittala said there are many ways to conserve water “and a commonly used methodology could be rooftop harvesting, which is very successful in the southern states of the country.”

Dr Dale highlighted the need for ‘enumeration of water bodies and their geolocation/GIS mapping’. He asked the relevant department to “regularly update the activities on the JSA:CTR portal.” He also insisted on conducting sensitization programs, especially at the panchayat level, on water conservation.

ICR DC Talo Potom asked all relevant departments to “coordinate with each other for an effective and comprehensive water conservation plan.”

EAC Takam Nicholas presented a thesis on the importance of water conservation.

WRD EE Techi Topu Tara spoke about “targeted intervention under JSA-2022, namely rainwater harvesting and water conservation, enumeration, geotagging and inventorying of all water bodies, preparation of scientific plans for water conservation, establishment of a Jal Shakti Kendra, intensive afforestation and awareness raising.

He informed that the Jal Shakti Kendra is already operational in the office of Executive Engineer Itanagar WRD.

The meeting was attended by heads of various departments. (DIPRO)
