Jammu: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Dr Mohan Bhagwat began his four-day visit to Jammu on Thursday.
The visit of the head of the RSS is important because it is his first visit to J&K after the repeal of Articles 370 and 35A and the reorganization of the State in Union territory.
Although the Sanghs maintained that Dr Mohan Bhagwat’s stay in Jammu remained a matter of organization only and had nothing to do with political activities, experts said Baghwat would participate in many programs and should meet intellectual think tanks and several BJP politicians.
The RSS chief last visited Jammu in 2016.
The official RSS statement says Dr Bhagwat will review ongoing projects initiated by RSS in Jammu and Kashmir in various areas including Sewa, education, public awareness, health, rural development, ecology, water conservation, social equality, etc.
He will also interact with the Pracharaks of the Union territory as well as with selected dignitaries.
He will participate in many programs, including attending a function at Jammu University on October 2, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
